Block the Bill. No More Weapons for Israel or Ukraine!!!
The Peace in Ukraine Coalition calls all on members of Congress to vote against the Biden administration’s $95 billion supplemental war spending bill that includes $61 billion to continue the war in Ukraine, $14 billion for weapons for Israel’s war on the Palestinian people, $2.4 billion for the attacks on Yemen and $8 billion to further militarize East Asia for a confrontation with China. We also oppose any stand-alone bill that may follow with billions in weapons for war. We call for immediate ceasefires in Gaza and Ukraine.
We condemn Israel’s assault on the Palestinian people of Gaza and US complicity in this genocide. We call for: an immediate ceasefire; an end to US weapons transfers to Israel; no more US blocking of ceasefire resolutions in the UN; reinstatement of funding for UNRWA.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine, South Africa, Yemen and the millions of people in the US and around the world taking action to let Gaza live.
US militarism in the Middle East, including strikes on Yemen, Iraq and Syria, is escalating tension that may lead to the war with Iran that hawks are openly pushing for. Along with its proxy war against Russia in Ukraine, the US is taking the world to the brink of World War 3.
The recent US strikes on Yemen continue our country’s shameful legacy of attacks on one of the most impoverished nations in the Middle East. The blockade on Israeli shipping aims to secure a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. However, instead of supporting calls for a ceasefire, the White House is bombing Yemen.
The US support for and complicity with Israel’s slaughter in Gaza, in defiance of the UN and international law, further exposes the hypocrisy of US foreign policy with respect to the war in Ukraine. The US follows its self-proclaimed rules selectively as it continues to pick and choose which conflicts it frames as ones that violate “the rules-based order” and which do not.
Notably in Israel’s war almost 30,000 civilians have been killed in Gaza, including over 10,000 children in less than 5 months of war. While the US professes concern for civilian casualties and alleged Russian war crimes in Ukraine, it is fully complicit and responsible for Israeli war crimes far more horrific and widespread against the people of Palestine
While the focus of our coalition is for Peace in Ukraine, many of our coalition organizations and members are allies, supporters and activists as part of the movement for a Free Palestine.
