Join us this Sunday, March 6, in Waterloo for the Global Day of Action to call for a “Ceasefire and Peace Now.” This peace vigil will be held from 4:00-5:00pm at Waterloo Public Square, 75 King St S.
We will be standing in solidarity with people across Canada and the world to say no to war and violence, calling for a just peace in Ukraine and for common security between Russia and the West. We want peace in Ukraine, peace with Russia, and peace worldwide.
This Global Day of Action was called at an online international anti-war meeting attended by thousands, organized by CODEPINK, Stop the War Coalition, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, and the No to NATO network. You can watch the recording here: https://www.codepink.org/february_26_2022_international...
This will be a family-friendly vigil organized by the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace. Participants will be able to sign peace cards to our Members of Parliament to call on Canada to stand for peace, to not send weapons to Ukraine but to send diplomats and work for a negotiated political solution to the crisis. We encourage you to bring a song or poem to share. Please bring peace signs and we will take a photo. For more info, visit: https://www.peaceinukraine.org/
For safety purposes, we ask that all participants observe existing regional health guidelines, available here: https://www.waterloo.ca/en/living/covid-19-response.aspx
*After the vigil, all are invited to meet for coffee/snack at Café 1842 at the Huether Hotel located at 59 King St N.
