Racine, Wisconsin, USA. Stand for Peace in Ukraine

This is a Stand for Peace in Ukraine.  We will have 2 large banners,  green "Fund Human Needs Not Militarism",  Buddhist yellow "Aid for Peace Not War", 2 blue banners "Peace Begins With Us", and a small Ukrainian blue banner "War is Not Healthy for Children and Other Living Things." From I-94, take Highway 20, which becomes Washington Avenue, east to Main Street to Racine which is on the lake about 10 miles.  Turn north on Main St., drive north some 6 blocks to State Street.  Turn west on State Street and drive to the 1000  block, turn north on Marquette St. and park in the street.

    We need to realize the War in Ukraine didn’t begin with Russian troops coming in in Feb 2022. It began years before with the coup in 2014 and the takeover by the far right of the Ukrainian government, repression in Russian speaking areas, repression of unions, and alternative parties. It was pushed by the US supporting NATO’s eastward movement encroaching on Russia. NATO countries were already training and arming Ukrainian troops. And there was a low level warfare in the Dombas region for 8 years which means there already was a lot of suffering in that part of Ukraine that was trying for autonomy or independence. It was thought the Minsk Accords would help but now it is admitted by the former German Chancellor that they were just using the agreements as a way to play for time to arm and train the Ukraine military. The US and NATO have been pushing for this war from the get go.
