Can you Peace Walk into the sunset with us this Friday, June 24? This will be our 11th Peace Walk for Ukraine and the World. We've been doing them since April. All the details weekly are here.
Our Friday walk and vigil will be one of many peace actions around the world this weekend to call for the end of the war in Ukraine. Come make your presence known as Madison’s part of the International Day of Action for Peace in Ukraine, and the Global Peace Wave.
7:00 pm - We start at Yahara Place Park. Gather at the mouth of the Yahara Canal for silence and a song, then walk.
7:30 pm - 7:45 pm - Vigil and greet drivers and bikers at East Washington Avenue with our big War Is Not the Answer banner.
8:00 pm - Vigil and closing circle at Lake Mendota near Tenney Park Locks. Sunset is at 8:41 pm.
Good news! Our Rep Mark Pocan introduced a bill in Congress last week to cut the military budget by $100 billion. It’s called the People Over the Pentagon Act, more details here. Let’s thank Rep Pocan for this bill.
Also, let’s call on Rep Pocan to stop voting for money for the war in Ukraine. He voted in May for the $40 million package for Ukraine which included weapons. All 57 votes against the bill in the House were made by Republicans.
